About the movie:
Soul Surfer tells the true story of Bethany Hamilton. Bethany was a competitive surfer when she lost an arm in a shark attack. The movie tells the story of the attack, her recovery, and her strength of will to return to surfing and even to become a competitive surfer again. In the movie Bethany relies on her Christian faith for strength and to pull her through the difficult times.
The movie is based on the autobiography by Bethany titled Soul Surfer: A True Story of Faith, Family, and Fighting to Get Back on the Board. In 2004 Hamilton was named the ESPY Comeback Athlete of the Year by ESPN. The movie was nominated as the Choice Movie Drama Award for the 2011 Teen Choice Awards.
