Kids News Back to Kids News April 20, 2007 Disney's High School Musical 2 set for release this August The much anticipated follow up to Disney's hit kids movie High School Musical will be coming out in August of 2007. Many of the same stars and performers from the original movie will take part in the sequel including director Kenny Ortega, actor Zac Efron (Troy Bolton), actress Vanessa Anne Hudgens (Gabriella Montez), Ashley Tisdale (Sharpay Evans), Lucas Grabeel (Ryan Evans), and Corbin Bleu (Chad Danforth). High School Musical 2 will follow a similar format as the first movie. The movie takes place over summer vacation at Sharpay's and Ryans Country Club. There is a talent show at the Country Club that the main characters compete in. Sharpay and Ryan try to get between Troy and Gabriella and the fun ensues! A great fun plot with some twists and emotional turns with lots of music and dance numbers from the talented cast. High School Musical 2 may be even more popular than the original movie (and the original movie was very popular for a TV movie). Many of the movies stars have gained fame between the movies. Corbin Bleu starred in the Disney movie Jump In!, Ashley Tisdale continued her role in the popular TV series The Suite Life of Zack and Cody, and Vanessa Anne Hudgens has been active in the music scene. High School Musical 2 is completed with filming. The movie was filmed in Salt Lake City, Utah. Some of the movie's plot and film sequences were chosen by High School Musical fans on the Disney web site. Also, a third movie has been rumored for 2008 called Haunted High School Musical.
