Mystery books offer a great opportunity to play detective. Do you like to try and figure things out? This list has the classic kid's mysteries like the Hardy Boys by Frank W. Dixon or the Nancy Drew Books by Carolyn Keene as well as new series like the Secret Series by Pseudonymous Bosch and The Thirty Nine Clues Series.

The Secret Series by Pseudonymous Bosch is a favorite kids mystery writer of mine because the author sometimes directly addresses the reader. The titles in this series are; The Name of this Book is Secret, If you are Reading this it is too Late, This Book is not Good for You, and This Isn't What it Looks Like. The titles alone made we want to see what these books were all about.

The Thirty Nine Clues books are a fun way to read mystery books from a lot of your favorite authors. The books are written by different authors but they all follow the same story. There are several famous kid's book authors involved including Rick Riordan, Gordon Korman, Margaret Peterson Haddix, Peter Lerangis, Jude Watson, Patrick Carman, and Linda Sue Park. Each has written at least one book in the series.
