The Story

The game begins with a cry for help from the future. Layton and his assistant, Luke, must travel 10 years into future London to start their adventure. From there the game unfolds as many mysteries and characters present themselves while you navigate your way around London. It's up to you to solve puzzles and manage the twists and turns of the game in order to get Layton and Luke to the end of the game.

Game Play

The main object of the game is to solve the main mystery. As you travel around London you will encounter puzzles to solve. There is a journal and other help to assist you in keeping track of puzzles as well as finding them, so you won't get too bogged down in hunting for puzzles or figuring out what you have or haven't completed.

The puzzles themselves are well made and challenging. Puzzles come in the form of mini games, memory puzzles, visual tricks, mazes, brain teasers, etc. You can get help if there are some you just can't solve. The help comes in the form of hints that you can buy for coins. Coins are found throughout the city. There is a good variety of puzzles as well, so you won't have to do a lot of repetitive puzzle solving. If you like puzzles and adventure games, you will enjoy the game play of Professor Layton and the Unwound Future.

Graphics

The graphics for the game are mostly cartoon-like. They are well-done, but not spectacular. The idea being that DS graphics are never too great and the game is not so much about graphics as mystery, adventure, and solving puzzles. As a result, we like the graphics and thing they are enjoyable to look at for a game of this type.

Professor Layton and the Unwound Future is rated E for Everyone 10+.
